Default Portable Shade House

we started here after I got the deck built

yeah you going to think portable? Ya. I needed to cover my plants on the patio deck I made. I get full east and then full west exposure now the sun has moved. What to do since it seems Im going to have to move again around sept. Im getting tired of moving. But anyway had to come up with some kind of portable yet stable structure. You guys and girls who been here awhile know I like to build things anyway. So here goes..

I started out with putting fence post in 5 gallon buckets with an 80lb sack of concrete. That was the hardest work this needs.

I set the buckets in cedar planters I got from Home depot. All together each corner post has 50 bucks in it. Then ran top rails around the structure drilled holes and put self tapping metal screws into each corner to hold it together.

We starting to get worried now .
I ran decking all around the planters and bolted it all together with lag screws to the deck

EASY!!! I have ordered some 50% aluminet to cover it. Beware ordering custom cut shade cloth. Didnt know I was going to have to wait 4-6 weeks for grommets and a custom cut..

This is going to work . Had 30 mph winds hit me last night and this didnt move a bit and still standing..

I can take it apart in about an hour . Had to do it once already...

cost about 300 bucks with custom shade cloth. One more thing Im going to do Is add a piece of solexx over the top left so water wont run off the roof right into my plants. No gutters.

hope you can build something today that makes your orchids life more better

Lookin good RJ!
Boy you really do like to build enclosures for your plants and they've all been pretty nice. Especially like the last patio you did and this one should be nice too!
Make sure to post pics when the shade is up!!

ya I like building things. I should have to have A permit to build something over my head ya know. Thanks you all. I hope it doesnt rain too much before I get some cover over the top. My roof pours down all over this stuff when it rains so Im still draggin them around. The plants suffer so much when you have to drag em all over the property. They like to sit in their pots and look back at ya. My orchids been moved around so much they get reward miles.

That looks like a very clever and attractive set-up. I think your orchids have a pretty good summer ahead. I hope you find a nice place in which to settle, soon. Must be a complete pain to keep moving.
