Blethia purpurea

"Pine Pink"

Campylocentrum pachyrrhizum

"Bent Ribbon Orchid"

This particular orchid still has it's juvinile leaf which will fall off by it's 2nd year leaving just the roots as the mature plant.

"Bent Ribbon Orchid"

This juvinile plant still has its "baby leaf". This will typically fall off after the first year of growth and then it will grow into an adult leafless orchid.

Another juvenile Ribbon orchid.

Dark-thirty is the swamp.........

Time to go home and prepare for another day.

Dark-thirty in the swamp.....

Reserved for that special time when it is neither day nor night and when shapes and shadows play tricks on the mind. The half hour just before nightfall.........the dark-thirty.

Amazing! What an adventure. Incredible skills behind the camera. This has got to be every orchid nut's wildest dream. I can't believe that all of those orchids are in the same place. What I wouldn't give to live in Florida.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Tindomul.....

Thank you very much for the enthusiasm and kind words. I will surely enter the photo next time. It's one of my fav's too.

J...

That's just a portion of the orchids of Fakahatchee. I still have many more to find and photograph.

These are all great shots, but that Bletia shot is phenominal! So many fully open flowers... Amazing!

Justin,

Thanks. I didn't expect this much of a reaction to that pic although it is my favorite shot from last year. I'm really glad you and everyone else enjoyed it soo much.

It's almost time for them to flower out there.

Ok....I'm going out there in Saturday....anyone wanna go look for chids?

Fakahatchee Strand is much closer to me than I thought -- your pictures are convincing me that I need to make the trip.

Thank you for all these photos -- they're beautiful.
