this first pic blew my mind... that is not a fern in the cruck of the tree, it is an Antherium!!! and there are two others on the other side!

i would GUESS, this Live Oak is 60' tall...the phiodendrum has not only done the trip, it looks like it goes up and does itself!!!

one of the neat things they try to teach here is about ecotones or transitional regions in the environment. they have a great pond, a salt marsh and a huge oak forest...really neat

oh and a crazy lizard ran across the pads at light speed ...i could not get a good ID lol
i told the park ranger i would come back and remove this iguana if they wanted....he asked how and i said i would bring an airgun and shoot it in the eye and then toss it in the lake and he bristled and politely declined but asked for my phone number so he could discuss it with the another ranger lol....i said the offer was open
