Some Cattleyas in bloom
This is the start of late winter, early spring cattleya season for us. March, April, and May are when a lot of our hybrid cattleyas bloom. Smells so good in the greenhouse, with them and the citrus blooming, you don’t want to leave.
First photo is looking down the bench, yesterday there where seven different types in bloom. At the peak of bloom there will be close to 14/15 different types in bloom.
The second photo is of new ones, that we got a little over a year ago (11/2016). Came in 2.5” pots, we repotted them in 3.5” pots soon after getting them. There are a few more that are pushing buds.

What hybrids are you growing, and do you favor any particular 'one' over the others ? I like the orange flower in your second photo.
Must be a colorful sight seeing all those blooms within your greenhouse. And the perfumed air from those blooms... definitely a nice perk.

We like the fragrant ‘ones’, color isn’t the major factor in which ones we like or grow. If two catch our eye and one is fragrant and the other not, we choose the fragrant one. Pretty scientific isn’t it. We do like the blues and ones with a frilly lip though.
The orange one in the second photo is Pot. Little Toshie H&R

Here are some photos of the cattleyas that are in bloom in the first photo above
Photo #1 NOID, must have some brassavola in it somewhere, lightly scented
Photo#2 Bc. Daffodil, cheery yellow color, fast grower, sweet-lightly spicy scent
Photo #3 Bc. Binosa 4N ‘Ice Shave, getting to the end of it’s blooms, has been in bloom for over two months, unique two color pattern, no scent
Photo #4 Slc. Jewelry’s Art ‘Carved Coral’ AM/AOS X Blc. Rigeley’s Mill ‘Mendenhall’ HCC/AOS, this one seems to always have problems with thrips, strong scent
Photo #5 Slc. Kagaribi Dawn ‘Red Star’, one of our non scented favorites, can not beat that red color
Photo #6 Epc. Siam Jade ‘Lake View’, took awhile for this one to start blooming, light sweet scent
Photo #7 Blc. mem. Grant Eichler ‘Lennette’ HCC/AOS, everyone, who has the space, should have this one, large flowers, wonderful strong fragrance
