I looked it up to learn what the abbreviation means. It's supposed to be Bpl. and it is Brassoepilaelia.

Bpl. Golden Peacock 'Orange Beauty' AM/OSROC (Bl. Richard Mueller x Epi. vitellinum) / Orchids.com

At the cactus society I see people who have carefully copied typos from tag to tag. When I try to correct them they fly into a frenzy. I guess a tag is a sacred infallible relic?

I get tags with typos and butchered names even from local commercial growers who know better... I figure it's a learning experience when I look up a plant, can't match what the tag says with the reference (because it's wrong), work on another part of the name, and come up with what it should be. I feel like Sherlock Holmes. (Hint: I love the ability of looking up names based on a small part, that Orchidwiz provides. I have deciphered damaged and faded tags that way too)

I fixed it. I printed it exactly so I wouldn't get called out. 😉

What's really funny is when the tag from a completely different plant is in the pot, and the owner refuses to believe it, because that's what the tag says.

A "sanity check" is always appropriate... that's part of the learning process, too - it feels good when one is able to catch an error and correct it.
