BC Hippodamia - big blooming
Default BC Hippodamia - big blooming

I've had this for 2+ years. Currently growing indoors, blooming 2-3 times a year with 2-4 blooms each time. It skipped its usual spring or early summer bloom this year, but then this month rewarded me with 8 blooms at once (pics don't show this off well).

This blooming is not as fragrant as normal, and there are fewer spots. I think its a light issue, but I've also been bad about fertilizing. Going to up the fertilizing to see what happens.

Beautiful blooms.
Not all plants are created equal. I have had this plant for about three years and it seems to struggle just to stay alive and had yet to bloom. Common sense, if I had any, would tell me to toss it.

This is very very very pretty! I love the purple columns! I wonder how this would cross with Little Mermaid, or maybe that's already been done?

Nice one! I love the colors on the darker flowers.

And I wouldn't up your fertilizer. Less is more with orchids! Up your light first and see what happens. I bet you'll be happy.
