So! Last night I got home from work after dark, and was emptying Vanda vases that had soaked all day. I smelled something sweet... was it the seedling Bc. Yellow Bird I haven't posted yet? No! that has a mild floral fragrance, and this was Cattleya combined with spicy... It was Golden Wax x Guess What. It took almost 3 weeks to release its scent.

Fragrance update: Now, in the sun, it smells almost exactly like the torn skin of a tangelo. This is a citrus resulting from the cross of grapefruit / pampelmousse with tangerine / mandarin.

I have a Golden Wax that has bloomed reliably every year for 31 years. Never any fragrance despite strong spikes with up to a dozen blooms . . . until last year. Strong sweet fragrance with some spiciness.
