Andrea, can you tell me how you care for your phaiocalanthe Kryptonite 'Ursula' I have had a 'Chariots of Fire' for more than a year and it doesn't seem to do much. It's new pseudobulbs don't even fully mature, but they are many that start to grow then stop. Then others pop up and then they stop prematurely and so on. Yours is gorgeous and looks fantastic.

Mandy,
I wrote a response to your question but lost connection. I will try again in the morning.

My Phaiocalanthe care: The plants struggled when I first purchased them. I believe I under-watered them. Mine do not like to dry out completely and will have leaf tip die back if they are allowed to do so. I repotted in bark mixed with sphagnum. I spray them with the hose, sometimes daily, when they are outside (on the back porch - early morning sun, bright mid-day shade, and very late evening sun). Inside: south facing window, I water twice weekly and sometimes leave water standing in the catch tray. I try to keep the humidity high in the orchid grow areas (humidifier inside; watering the porch floor outside).
Fertilizer: Better Gro Orchid Plus 20-14-13 & Better Gro Orchid Better-Bloom 11-35-15 (both are Urea-free) Outdoor amounts: 1/2to 1 tsp. weekly per gallon Indoor amounts: 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. weekly per gallon. I will also add a clear water week between the different kinds of fertilizer making sure to flush the fertilizer salts out of the pots.
Spring - August: 3 weeks 20-14-13 then 1 week 11-35-15 1 tsp. magnesium added once monthly in the form of Epsom Salts.
August - end of Active growth : 3 weeks 11-35-15 then 1 week 20-14-13 ( I have not been as consistent with the schedule in this portion and many weeks are just clear water).
Super Thrive is added on occasion monthly/bimonthly. This will be replaced by KelpMax when I receive it. I also plan to use Cal/Mag. in place of the Epsom Salts this year. Calcium helps the plant avoid/fight fungal infections.

Nah! There are plenty of spots to hang plants from the blinds, lol! Actually, the plants are just consolidated to better enjoy the blooms. Then they will be moved back to their normal grow areas.
