Yes, the violacea does have a very fruity fragrance!
Terri, It's funny that you say that about moving to Florida as my best friend and avid orchid collector like myself, is trying not to move to Oregon! Her family is all for it and she is the only hold out...
The flowers on the retusa are very small, only about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch wide

Interesting thought Charles! I don't know exactly why I referred to him instead of her. I just get a masculine feel from this plant. Perhaps because, though the flowers are small they are far from delicate. They are very sturdy little things...
You've given me something to think about. I'll have to check out the orchid house and see just how I view the others...

That would be Onc. tetrapetalum x Onc. pulchellum a natural hybrid. I have the reverse cross also and it has a light pink flower. |
