Default Toronto Artistic Orchid Society Show

So today was the first day of the TAOA show (don't ask me why the acronym does not match up with the society name. They do this all the time). I took my grandma with me and got there maybe a few minutes after they opened and MAN was it packed! The Chinese sure do take their orchids seriously

Here are some pictures from the show! Enjoy!

I've posted the two plants I bought in another thread. Now... I may just take a nap

PS! If anyone in Canada knows where I can find Den. Oriental Smile Fantasy, I've been looking for it for a while without success... but this year I've seen it in 2 separate shows! Please help me find it! bowing

It was quite the madhouse in there this morning! But lots of cool vendors too - I was relatively well behaved, but did walk away with two species I've been looking at for over 2 years - dend draconis and dend delacourii...as well as a little Chiloschista usneoides

Nice! I didn't even LOOK at species, since I'm doing the project plant soon. Hey Calvin! Maybe you know where to find Den. Oriental Smile Fantasy? There were 2 of them on display today, but the vendors I talked to didn't know what it was.

WOW, these are gorgeous but that Catt in the 4th pic, is breathtaking. It must have been a treat, seeing all these face-to-face. Thanks for sharing these pics!

Hey Niki - I have no idea regarding the dend but I know two of the Chinese vendors who come regularly to the SOOS meetings and were also at the TAOA show regularly carry these nobile dends. I find that with most vendors, since they carry so many plants, they may not recall based upon the name unless it's one of their bread and butter plants...so you may want to show them a photo - that might jog their memory

Hi Nikki. I agree, try sending a photo to the society that organized the show. I was in a similar situation not too long ago. I sent a photo that I've taken at a show and the organizers managed to track the plant for me. The plant actually belonged to a member, and not a vendor, who happened to have a keiki of the phal. That person was kind enough to give me the keiki. So give it a try!

PS: I attended the show too and bought a Sedirea japonica in spike.

Try Forestview Orchids from Vancouver. I believe they have the Dendrobium you want.
