I know Call_Me_Bob took a lot of photos, so I'm sure he'll be posting them at some point, and he may also be the best one to summarize too. Be patient. I'm sure he's very tired after working at the show all weekend.
I do know that DelawareJim, who I had the pleasure of meeting there, took one of the prizes.

I sure did! The Neo judging was great! And I took LOTS of photos!!! I will get them up as soon as I can, but I'm pretty drained from the weekend! I was up until almost 3 am yesterday after getting home from the show I got a bunch of extra stuff from Matthew at Ten Shin so I had to take them out of the box and sort and make sure the labels were in the right places. SO MANY PLANTS.

Neofinetia is now Vanda
BTW, off topic, but am I the only one who hadn't heard that Neofineti is now Vanda (again; it was back in the 1800s too, up till 1925), as of sometime last year? I just happened to stumble across that news while looking for other things and I see that RHS does have it so. There's a thread about it on one of the other forums and apparently the reclassification is based on genetics.
Darn, and just as I decided to buy a few Neos in order to diversify beyond Phals and Vandas.

I have heard of it, I think it's fine. Classify it by what it is genetically. I'll probably keep calling the Neofinetia falcata though, beause that's what most people know them as. But for me, they will always be Furan and Fukiran. Whatever they call them, I'll love them the same and grow them the same and call them the same thing likely.

Hi all.
Somehow I managed to take 3rd place, with a 4-fan Rain-No-Hikari. Quite frankly, I'm still a little stunned.
All the plants looked really good.
The 1st and 2nd place plants were huge and I actually didn't think I stood a chance when I saw them and some others. They were easily 15 plus fan plants.
I think Al Pickerel from Al's Orchid Greenhouse took 2nd, and Susan Kolhavi from the National Capital Orchid Society took 1st.
The top 5 plants each received a traditional Japanese ceramic Fukiran pot and the top 3 received a plaque with a pocket to insert a picture of the plant. The pot I received is like this:
I'll try to post mine on Thursday. Like "Bob", I'm a bit fried between the Judging, touring the exhibits with my wife and shopping on Sunday and clerking on Friday.
Lots of people took pictures and I know I'll be sending the few I took and others will be send in for posting on the Fukiran Society of America website, so stay tuned.

Cheers.
Jim

Congratulations again, Jim. Finally meeting you in person just as you won the prize provided a vicarious thrill for me.
Funny thing. Just after the competition, someone who had (mis-)overheard me introduce myself to you as Jayfar (my name is Jay, but it made sense to use the name I'm known on the board by) approached me, thinking that I was Jay Pfahl of the famous orchid species website, www.orchidspecies.com. Later in the day, I was also approached by a young SEPOS member, who made the same mistake. Of course I quickly corrected both.
