It's been raining off and on for several days now in South Florida and they forcast that it will continue into the weekend. This is bad news for the Redlands Orchid Festival because it's an outdoor show. The most recent forcast is 20% chance of rain on Friday (not too bad) and 60% chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday. Our normal weather pattern is rain in the afternoon so try to go early.
Now they've changed the forcast. The new forcast calls for 50% chance of rain on Friday and 20% chance on Saturday. The ideal situation would be cloud cover to keep it cool with no actual rain.
Thanks for the updates. Beware of swinging umbrellas if you eye something interesting! As I've already threatened the big leaf forum, I'll continue the threats here... Looking forward to seeing everyone down there, rain or shine!
I actually prefer the rainy weather over the searing heat. Last year was awesome with the rainy weather. This year I'm taking an umbrella just in case. I will be there tomorrow and Saturday.
I went down to help set up yesterday. I'm also heading down on saturday.
The tent set-up is different this year. They are is distinctive rows, with shade loth across the path, plus a commercial runway rug down the isles. If it rains, you won't be slopping in mud.
And if it starts pouring, just jump into one of the tents.
My concern is, will I have enough money to buy what I want. Yesterday was set up, and I already spent $2,700.00
I went today, Friday morning. It was beautiful until about 2:30 PM when a big thunderstorm moved in, just as I was leaving. Afternoon storms are common down here so I advise going early if you can. I didn't think the AOS tent was very impressive this year as in past years.
