the practical encyclopedia of orchids is a great book. i think it is even better than the ortho book

My choice for beginners is ‘Understanding Orchids’ it’s an uncomplicated guide to grow the world’s most exotic orchids. The writer talks in an easy, conversational tone and presents things clearly and concisely. It is quite a bit cheaper and I highly recommend you to have a look on it.
