Joann, which Potinara do you have? I grow mine just outside the Cattleya area. I was recently a step away from dumping the Pot Susan Fender that I couldn't seem to get happy. I decided to give her just one more shot...and I mounted it to a piece of cork. Within two weeks, there were numerous big fat healthy roots growing!

Don't give up yet

I have a Pot. Hwa Yuan Gold 'YK #2' that wants to check out. I'm a born snoop; perhaps I'll just hang in this post to hear of any more growing tips, myself! Hummmm, piece of cork, huh?
Sue, what do you mean by "just outside the Cattleya area?"
Mine hasn't done anything but look half dead for about 6 months now. I have mine in bright light (for Maine standards ....not that bright). I treat it like a Cattleyea.
Thanks for posting your fustrations, Joann! I may learn something from this post. Now, where's my bottle of wine! kiki

I have a Pot. Hawaiian Prominence 'Carmela' that I've had for going on 3 years and it has done nada but grow vegetatively. It's kicking out a new lead that is almost mature so I'm crossing my fingers. I wonder if the difficulty in blooming these guys has to do with how much Soph. is in them?

I have most of the Catts on the shelf between the tall towers on the large rack because there is a skylight directly over that area. I have the mounted Pot Susan Fender hanging all the way to the right on the front of that shelf, so it doesn't get the direct light that the Catts do...just almost

Try mounting yours...if you think your Pot wants to "check out", try mounting it before you take that step. Can't hurt if you're thinking of tossing it anyway
You may be surprised by the results.

When I said I was a step away from tossing mine, I meant that literally. The garbage bag was a foot to the right of me and the piece of cork was laying on the table a foot to the left. The only decision was which direction I would choose

Thanks Sue! My Pot. is in a bit of trouble cause I don't have any cork to the left of me. I do, however, have a garbage can to the right. But! I will try to find something to mount it on. Do you water/mist it daily when it's mounted? Thanks so much! I really appreciate your help and encouragement. I must go tell her she has gotten a reprieve.....for now.

LOL

All the mounts get misted heavily at least once a day...more than once during the hot summers down here.
