Hi Ted, no they were large hybrid Cattleya. They were very nice but huge! The space they freed became space for Laelia and Fukiran.

I totally bought this yesterday, and now I have a phal sized space and a growing onc size space and then on top I put my tallll plants like my one psy with a 3' spike. The shelf is great! I got a mini sized one too, for my bedroom...oh. And two sad little "mini" orchids from the Death Rack.
Glad I have a place for the 15+ plants arriving this week from Peter Lin and a couple of eBay sellers....:/

I knew you would love that shelving unit Suzanne. I love mine too!
In fact, I ordered some new plants for my shelf:
Neostylist Pinky 'Starry Night'. I've had my eye on this one for a while, pretty much since I started collecting orchids a year ago. Finally found one at a price I wanted to pay from a seller I wanted to deal with.
Ada Aurantiaca. This one might be a bit of a challenge for me, but it seems to be an easy enough grower if you can keep it cool in the summer.
Lepanthopsis astrophora. It's tiny, cute and my terrarium needs more tiny and cute!

[QUOTE=Suzanne17;698433)
I HAVE A PROBLEM!!!! Where am I going to put these? I had to clean out the guest room with an east window for a friend who will be staying with me for a few months so now everything is in the room with a west window. But I don't have any more table space! I guess I should buy a table!
I have had to do the same a few times with guests. This is why I started growing some of my orchids outside in a greenhouse I bought. All I had to do is put a shade cloth over it and the are doing very well. The only thing I worry is having no space in the winter and no where to put them!

Which light do you have? That shelf does look awfully lonely.

Go to your local hydroponics shop and see what they have. It's always good to support local business and they can help you choose the right one for your plants. I did have to go to two shops, the first shop I went to, the guys there had no clue what to do with orchids.
If I were going to order online, FirstRays has some nice units from Hydrofarm at good prices.

I do have one close by. I would need to start with one of the very inexpensive fixtures but they carry a pretty basic model.

I really shouldn't be taking on any more plants since winter is fast approaching . I like to let my orchids settle in before they get put in a cold room all winter, but I couldn't pass up 2 beautiful purple Cattleyas.
I'm nuts for anything with Bonanza in the name now. I know it is probably a long shot in getting any other Bonanza Catts, except for 'Queen Panamint' but I'm determined to have a 'lucky strike', 'perfection' or 'Cathy'. My favorite looking one so far is the 'orchidheights'. I would shave my head for even a back bulb of that plant.
My purchases were Lc. Bonanza 'casecard' and C. Percivaliana 'summit'. Can't wait for them to get here!!

Then you certainly know about Carter and Holmes. I am quite familiar with 'Summit' which is one of my favorites, blooming near Christmas. 'Bonanza' is only a name to me, not familiar with it at all, but 'casecard' as a clonal name?
My flowering of a newly purchased species (2014).
