Sue, I planned to do this as a way to personally keep track of what's going on - especially with all of those new arrivals I had a couple of months ago! I have it as a file on my computer, and planned to take photos of those things of note (I limited myself to the 10 with the most change). I found that the photos really help, as I can go back and compare quite easily with a previous month.

I think that a main thread (like what you've created here) linking separate posts - to make them easy to refer back to - is a great idea. I don't know that we need another section of the forum. But if you did get Marty to add one, we could also use it to report on Project plant status... instead of those threads being in Contests and Polls - which doesn't feel like it fits...

Just my 2 cents!

I've just had a browse around the site, and maybe it makes sense to put these posts into the 'Members Blog' section? I didn't think of that when I originally posted, and I'm not sure how the blog section ties in with the forums... or how easy they are to search. (I figured it would be good for someone to get a hit on a species name that they may be searching on....)

So, that makes 2 1/2 cents??

Okay...maybe the forum would be overkill
I don't think the blog section would work well either so how about this...

We keep it in one monthly thread which I will start on the 1st of each month and keep it as a "sticky" so it's easy to find. When the new month comes around, that "sticky" will replace the one from the prior month...and we'll keep it in the Orchid Lounge as it's really just something to be done at our leisure.

Agree? Disagree? Other ideas?
Keep 'em comin'

I agree. Feel free to move my post over to this thread if you want..., or leave this one for the discussion of what we should do and create a November Status Reports thread that everyone that wants to can update. Then everything can be in one place.

I think it's a great idea.

As a newb and from a scientific/horticultural persepective it would be nice to know what can be expected for maintenance, growth, flowering in any given month; like do all Paph hookerae's bloom at the same time?

Cheers.

A link to your original post is already part of this thread, it's the second entry and Ross' is the third.

Default November 07 in my world...

Here's what's going on in the Orchid Room:

Barkeria whartonianum x melanocaulon is in spike with buds starting to form

Tuberolabium kotoense going strong with 4 full spikes, looking good so far

Blc Daffodil has 2 buds ready to open

C skinneri...2 plants...lots of sheaths, no signs of buds yet

V. Pat Delight is in bud

C. aurantiaca is in sheath with a bud coming up

C. Chocolate Drop 'NOK' is in bud

Phal Tinny Gladgirl in bud

Phal Mount Lip x Taisuco Peace in bud

Phal Bedford Innocence x Kaala Snow in bud

Phal Taisuco Verve x Summerfield Rose in bud

Phal violacea x (violacea x BeTris) in spike

L. reginae...in sheath with a bud showing!

Too many 'chids to mention with new growths, I'll post updates as sheaths and/or buds come along.

In bloom:
Onc Aloha Iwanaga
Den Nopporn Pink
2 NOID Dens
Prostechea cochleata 'John" in bloom with two more sheaths/buds.
Den oligophyllum
Bulb A-Doribil
Phal pulcherrima
Phal bellina
Phal equestris
V David Gardner 'Za Inat'
Den Coleman x 'The Green' (I think this might be Den Green Lantern)
Den Zengyo Pink
NOID Vanda - Blue
Ascda Yeo Geck Bee

In the terrarium:
I've added a Den rigidum to the group and they're all doing well. Nothing major happening though

Isn't this the second time this year that your 'John' will be in flower or is it still flowering from back a few months?! I can't wait until I have a steady cycle of something in flower - though I fear, I won't have as wide a variety as what you've got in bloom (and to come!). Your house must feel like paradise, Sue!

Susanne.

Have you posted a picture of Bulb A-Doribil?

I have one from Windy Hill (Boon Bryson 'Windy Hill' X enchinolabium 'Windy Hill'). Is your's the same cross? Mine was just labeled 'A-Doribl' when I got it but now I understand that cross has been named 'Adoribl Boonyuer'. Mine is a long way from blooming but I'm anxious to see what it will look like.

Bulbo 'Melting Point' is going to open in a few days.
