Subjects for Scheduled Chats
Hi everybody...what do you all think of having a scheduled subject for the 8 pm chat room sessions?
If you think it's a good idea, please reply to this with the type of orchid you would like to have presented on any one night. From those suggestions, a schedule can be put together for a certain type of 'chid on a particular night. What do you think?
I think one night should be dedicated to Vandas.
Your turn.....

One for Catts. I rarely go into any type of chat anywhere, but subject orchid chats sounds like they got a purpose!!

Sounds good...five more nights to go
I know people aren't always interested in chat rooms, but it's a very cool option for us. I think if it's set up with a different type of 'chid for each night of the week, it will draw more attention, rather than just a general chat.
Okay, one night for vandas, one for catts...I'm sure someone will suggest a "slipper" night
With all the types of 'chids out there, I'm sure we can all come up with a list of seven

We will have to put it into the calendar too.
How about Monday night Agraecums and the like.
Now I've suggested two, but I wont suggest no more for fear of becoming a chat hog.

Wow, you're on a roll! Hopefully, others (not that your opinion doesn't matter) will chime in. The whole reason for wanting to get this together is so that there are a number of us in there at the same time. I hope some others agree with us. If this gets off the ground, we can do the calendar setup. Thanks for your input.

If you are going to have specific topics, then the major genera should be covered: cattleyas, phalaenopsis, slipper orchids, oncidium alliance, pleurothallid alliance, etc.

maybe leave one night a week for a special topic/unusual orchids. I can see the major alliances as having plenty to talk about each week, but that way the minor genera would each get a little time here and there. it'd be good for learning and branching out too...kinda like a guest lecture/discussion.

It also depends on how many people attend the chat on a regular basis.

Great Idea, whatever you guys decide I'll gladly implement. Keep the suggestions coming. How about something concrete, like:
Monday - Phalaenopsis
Tuesday - Oncidium
Wednesday - Cattleyas
Thursday - ?
Friday - Pleurothallid
Saturday - Slippers
Sunday - ?
feel free to tweak the schedule and add to it

If we are going to have species/alliance specific chats we will need a few more days in the week!
Here are my suggestions:
Monday - Phalaenopsis
Tuesday - Oncidium
Wednesday - Cattleyas
Thursday - Dendrobium
Friday - Pleurothallid
Saturday - Slippers
Sunday - General Orchid Culture
