I needed to share with you all who I know can feel my pain
Aww ... it will start another new lead ...

I have a horrible record of breaking off new leads on Catt alliance when repotting

I know how it feels! I am terrible at repotting. That is why most everything goes into lava rock or is mounted! I break off spikes, roots, and growths far too often! And no one physically around understands the disappointment! It should put out a second lead...cattleyas and laelias tend to do this. Hope that growth will bloom for you.

The only time I killed an orchid was a Miltonia, just finished blooming 2 days after I got it home.
And then it just died for no reason.
That was definitely not my fault.

Default This thread is definately worth reviving

Not counting the many times I have knocked plants off the shelf, I think the worst thing I did was try to remove an insect from one of my Oncid. alliance plants. It was right in the joint where a leaf, stem, and spike came together. You can probably see where this is going: The bug survived, the spike did not. Gotta wait a whole nother year.

A previous room-mate had misheard my instructions when I told her to place my phal on the balcony for sunlight. I should of explained that phals don't need a lot of sun. She placed it on the railing where there was direct sun and wind in the afternoon, and the orchid fell 15 stories down, pot and everything. I remember walking into my apartment block and seeing a smashed pot right in front of the entrance. She did not even realise the orchid was not on the balcony anymore! She since owes me an orchid xD - actually two; since she over-watered my very first phal.

Tragic story orchidpeeps! Very tragic! ---
My turn! I have an structure where I put some pots! (Photo below) I originally bought it to put my orchids (to keep them safe from the cat). Imagine an open balcony with light orchid pots on it...And windy. The top pot with my Colmanara Wildcat just tried suicide! After that it was the Oncidium aloha iwanaga turn! I gave up to put plastic pots in the structure - now I hang them. Yet, I'm clumsy... I broke the best root of my Rhynchostylis gigantea (my favourite plant). My poor plants! My poor plants!

---
Do. Or do not. There is no try.

I have a cat which to date has eaten or destroyed:
25 Dendrobium subuliferum seedlings
A Gongora fulva
Two new growths of my Stenoglottis longifolia
Edit: Add an Aciopea to the list, but it is definitely recovering.
The Stenoglottis could recover, but the others were toast.
