Default Orchid show haul and some photos

Yesterday was the annual show of the Dutch Orchid Society, and as usual I had lots of fun! It's held in the greenhouses of a botanical garden, so it's a really nice setting. I love this particular show because there are some professional growers, and also a lot of hobbyists growers that sell their extra plants for a very small price. I was reasonable and only came home with 6 new orchids!

Phal Mini Mark (blooming - to replace my old one)
Paph Delrosi (delenatii x rothschildianum)
Phal pallens (in spike)
Onc ornithorhynchum (in spike)
Milt Sunset Boulevard
Promenea xanthina hybrid

The first 2 I bought from my favorite dutch grower, Claessen Orchideeën for 'normal' orchid prices. Since I order often from this grower he pulled out a blooming size Paph from under the table for me (the others were all large seedlings) and knocked a few €€ off of it. How nice of him!

The others I got from hobbyists, and they each cost less than 5€ each.

Anyway, here are some pics:

My haul

The Paph Delrosi that was on the table (can't wait for mine to bloom, although I read that roth hybrids can be difficult to bloom)

My Mini Mark (which is nicely fragrant!)

The Cycnoches that won 'best in show'

An Aerangis rhodostica which came in 2nd I think

Phal gigantea (the blooms smell amazing!!)

And I was shocked by the size of the plant, this is the first time I saw an adult plant in person

Bulbo. Louis Sander (a stinker!!)

A gorgeous masdie

One of the growers displays

There are some other pics, so if you feel like seeing them they are here: NOV-dag 2011

Fabulous pics! I've never been to an orchid show. I'll have to go some day when I have no money! lol The Milt Sunset Boulevard looks strikingly similar to my Milt. 'Sunset' or is the true name of mine 'Sunset Boulevard' I wonder?

Gorgeous!!

I think it's the other way around, mine should just be 'Sunset'. I looked them up in Orchidwiz and can only find a Sunset, not the other.

Awes

Actually, you are about as close as I'm gonna get
Looks like the only vender for this plant is in the EU.

Not like I have enough plants that require attention though

Wonderful haul Camille. They all look healthy and lovely. Cute mini mark and I can see why you bought the Paph!

I am picking up one of those Milt. Sunset plants in two weeks at the Calgary show. Eyebabe, Ecuagenera has them and attend a lot of shows both in Canada and U.S. They aren't listed on their site for some reason but if you e-mail them they can hold one. My friend got one from them and it was gorgeous. It's the photo I entered in the calendar contest.
