I have had that happen to me in the past.. basal keiki (It looks like a basal keiki to me !) what looks good is that you seem to have a "newish" leaf there too....you may end up with a 'double' plant if mother keeps on growing! I would be very interested to know what happens in the future! as the ones I have had basal keikis on were either due to crown rot or the top of the plant was broken off (knocked over by the cats having a 'chasing each other' session )

Hi

Are you happy? Some people would prefer flowers...

it seems to me that it is the place where a normal spike would appear (3rd leaf from the top). it must have apeared due to temperatures above 18/20ºC (around 65 F), more towards the 26 ºC (around 80 F).

I usually have keiki in the summer due to the hot weather. Great way to give plants to friends or exchange

I have one old Phal that has a keiki almost in the roots, but due to the size of it (loss of apical dominance)

Another one is showing!!!
I took a really close look at this 'chid today...the leaves are all beautiful (and huge)...checked the roots which are all booming...and found another basal keiki coming up!

I'm just going to let it keep doing what it's doing to see what happens but what would a "normal" person do?
