I've seen the result of this growth (in fact had a triple growth prior to the hail of 2006) but never the beginnings. It must not be too rare as Costco regularly sells multiple growth Phals like this. Wonder if it is just a certain cross/species thing or a cultural thing. The result is usually many, many spikes all at the same time!

Don't blame you! My brother-in-law buys many Phals from Costco as "table decorations". Can you imagine? He said his latest one has over 50 blossoms on multiple spikes. Its' a multi plant like you are aquiring. So good luck and here's hopin'!

it's fab ! personally I'd keep it...and hopefully you'll end up with 2 plants ....double the spikes...(in about a year)

Ross, this didn't come from a "big box" store. Got it from a local vendor and it's really exciting to see something SO different happening with it!
The idea of having a huge multi-spiking Phal someday is something I look forward to!
