I have always wanted one of those, but they are so expensive even for a small one (when you can find them).
It'a funny, I went to RF orchids and they were charging $100 for a small plant of this but a few months later, I purchased a larger plant for $45 from Bill Thoms.

All depends on who you talk to and at what time...

Here's something that I photographed that will replace the "Bulbo. phalaenopsis craze"... it's called Bulbo. hashimotoi, and is just as beautiful and big, but not that fragrant. It smells like wet cardboard ONLY if you stick your nose in the sepal "hood". This rare and unusual species was originally collected in 1972 from PNG, and in 1997, was described as a new species.

(not to hijack the thread though... )

Marty,

That auction is dependent upon a "sucker" Another eBay seller has the same Paph. lowii 'Princehouse' x sib. at a MUCH cheaper price...

eBay: Paphiopedilum Lowii Princehouse IN SPIKE paph (item 130094430665 end time Apr-01-07 17:49:02 PDT)

The auction you just posted also shows the plant in bloom. The flowers are not remotely near exceptional, and they lack form. Compared to the parentage, it does not match up with 'Princehouse', it's a "culled plant"...

With a BIN of $2300 you can bet the reserve is WELL over the $1000 mark and probably well over $1500.

My lowii Princehouse x sib was had for about $40.
