Has anyone ever seen that episode where Denise the Menice distract poor Mr. Wilson from enjoying his night blooming cactus that blooms one every 40 years, one night, for just a few minutes? Haha. Too funny. Ofcourse thats an exageration of the truth, I think.

It was just so frustrating! The fact that this would have been my first re-bloom on a paph makes it worse
The 'chid is healthy and I know it'll spike again but

I really hate disasters but with what I do to some of my chids I invite the probability! Sue at least it was you! Not someone else!!!
(I sure do miss those SG-1 smileys-perfect for this thread: Teal'c shooting his zapper!!)

Boy, I'm glad the orchid god was picking on you this am and didn't see me try the same thing with my Paph. Shireen - cause I was spared...just barely.
I'd been gone all week and the spike was starting to corkscrew - thought I'd just straighten that baby up, but only got part of it before resistance told me to back off!
sorry kiddo.....

My husband mentioned a few times today that he's glad it was me and not him!
He's probably right

I am sorry you orchid broke. If it makes you feel better I smoked one of my $25 baby seedlings after a year and a half of tender loving care. Yes, you should go buy another one... It's gonna make you feel better.

I feel your pain sistah! I let my Epi. Pak Girl x Pacific Embers spike mash itself into the bottom of the shelf above it. Now all the lovely little buds are mushed. Luckily anybody can bloom one of those, even me. Next year!

Sue, I'm so sorry to hear about your Paph!! I was just thinking that my Paphiopedilum hainanensis bud should be staked up a bit higher - I will now be very careful when I attempt it. Thank you for sharing your story, it serves as an effective warning to others! Even if it doesn't lessen your pain this time! We'll all be waiting in anticipation next year for this baby of your's to bloom!
