Unpopular Opinion - Flower Others like that you hate
I'm starting this thread because I think Cattleya dowiana var rosita is ugly and for some reason needed to tell someone. I think its because I love the tipo variety so much.
Anyway, does anyone else have a flower they hate that others seem to love / willing to pay big $$ for?
Cheers!

This was inspired by the SVO list that just came out, maybe? Sure, I can play. Thanks for creating a safe space for some orchid trash talk.
I think most Dendrobiums are booooooriiiiiing and many are ugggllyyyy
Most Phalaenopsis too. What's the point? Might as well grow forget-me-nots, the flowers are prettier.
Don't get me started on Phragmipediums. Total waste of space in an orchid collection.
Brassavola nodosa...LAMEST most overrated orchid in the world
Bifoliate Cattleyas...no thank you
The recent 'coerulea' craze... Some might like gray flowers, but I'll pass! Blue my arse!

I'm kind of different. I think every flower is fascinating, including grass. I even like algae and lichens.

I'm contrarian in the other direction... I tend to be especially fond of the weird little things that only a mother could love, don't get quite as excited about the showy ones though I certainly like those too. Can't think of any orchid that I dislike.

Im not a fan of pelorics of really any of the splash petals. Guess my love of orchids is rooted in their ecological interest. Even though I almost exclusively grow species I am aware how line bred they all are....not exactly wild creatures anymore...

I will admit to not really liking green flowers!
I've tried a green Cym = No
I've got a seedling Rlc Yen Corona 'Green Genie'. I only purchased it to round out an order and so I could say I had tried a couple of green blooms. Still waiting for this to bloom.
I'm afraid I just don't understand the fascination with blooms that look the same as leaves!

Not really hate but can anyone help me understand why this Paphiopedilum won. I dont understand the appeal. And I’m sure there are other orchids more deserving of the award

Can't say what the judges had in their minds but I think it's quite a depressing colour!

I cannot say there is an orchid I “hate”, but I do have a well-developed sense of “eh…”.
I find most dendrobiums are boring, as are most alba “anythings”. For me, green takes a close second to white.
Phals can be boring unless they have striking or unusual coloration or patterns.

Exactly the response I was hoping to get. Hilarious despite the fact you target some of my favorites. Blue my arse lol

I'm not a fan on highly hybridized paphs myself, especially those considered bulldog paphs.
