It is totally correct too, what happens is that at some point in history (during the Haitian invasion in the Dominican Republic) the name was changed to Santo Domingo Island. Indeed the capital of DR is Santo Domingo as well, but also the entire island was named with the same name; Santo Domingo.

When Latinos, even Spanish from Spain (were I am) refer to the entire island, we usually say Santo Domingo, it is as if La Española were a vintage name.
That's interesting Sade, I did not know that. Thank you for the history. My son's M-I-L is from the DR so now I have something new and fun to discuss with her when I see her at Christmas.

Ohh, lol: I can give you much more subject to discuss hahaha ....the sociological arguments are endless!

So are the orchids matters; in my senses, I am growing against nature; in cold weather, with no natural sources as per the SH Techniques. All my homies friends constantly ask " how could that be possible" and feels like a laboratory TEST all the time. When they have the garden full of vandas and cymbs
