Default 2008 Bejing Olympics

Everyone strapped for an exciting olympics?
This is by far going to be the most interesting one yet. Yeah, the olympics have involved more politics than sport, but who can't resist watching a little Table Tennis... or watching for something out-of-the-ordinary during the Opening Ceremony?

The Tibet issue has been the highlight of the olympics so far. Seeing the footage of protesters trying to extinguish the flame in London was BY FAR the most amusing thing I've seen this year! The amount of security that is needed to prevent protesters from getting near the torch bearers is astounding. 3,000 police in Paris, just for a torch. Oh yeah, and some are on skates!

I think Tibet needed this event for the world to start reacting to the insanity, though, I am disappointed that Taiwan hasn't also been brought up... it was predicted a while back that Bejing 2008 was a mistake, but we'll have to see what all happens! There's a world full of protesters!

I agree, Pat, but that was Paris, not London!

The problem with China is that they won't bend - they are a) stubborn, b) prideful, and b) not western. The west has this idea that if a group makes a big enough noise about something, things get done. This is generally true in the democratic west. Not so in the east - things aren't like that now (yet), nor have they been for the last 7000 years of Chinese history. That's a lot of bad habits to break!

Default Olympics...

I know I am ready. As some of you may know I work at Home Depot, Which is the largest employer of Olympic hopefuls. Brian Sell is a marathon runner and hes from the store I work at. We have all been looking forward to seeing him in bejing, and have lots of stuff planned for the store in the upcomming months.

I love watching the opening ceremony, Just something about seeing all people no matter the difference together.
