Slowly but surely this little buggar is finally opening up for me but now its getting little spots of dry, brown areas on the petals...retribution for all the abuse? Can it really be that passive aggressive? Seriously though, any input on possible causes?

I don't see any brown edges...but if there are, they could be the result of too low humidity or dryness of the media.
Those should fully open in 5-7 days depending on temperature.

Thank you! We're having an unusually dry summer here in Western NY so I bet that's it!
Hopefully this pic shows it better

I see...I see...yeah, it's dryness (either of the air or the media). I watered mine today and despite my care, I think I see a very very mild crinkling in the newest growth...I was hoping I could avoid, but maybe I let it get one day too dry once. Actually, I'm trying to keep extra water in the saucer under the clay pot (evapo cooling), when I water. The excess water wicks within a day and evaporates.

I had a Paph that was doing the same thing and was told it was low humidity. The rapidly expanding petals and sepals can't get enough moisture to keep up, and the cells rupture...or something like that.

So far it's beautiful either way! I had something similar happen to mine last year and I can promise you it wasn't getting enough water or humidity as the spike developed. This caused my spike to have less and smaller blooms in addition to a little of what you're seeing. I know these guys like it humid but a little bit on the cooler side so if it's cool inside and you've got a humidifier pair them up!

Awesome! I have about 5 spikes on my Miltonia. Mine was in bad shape when I got it. took awhile but I have spikes too.
It is so exciting I have no clue what mine will look like I bought it on discount out of spike.
Congrats on the blooms!

Miltoniopsis are like unicorns and no-scrub toilet bowl cleaners for me.
