I just bought a Oncidium Burgundian. It is currently by my balcony windowed door (appartement life...), facing south. Light gets in from 10am to 1pm approx. It is currently blooming (with 3 more flower spikes to bloom soon).
Any tips or special recommendations? I am a beginner, so, do you think I can manage to keep it alive???
I have this oncidium and many others and this one is positively thriving on my window sill in a mixture of course bark and sphagnum moss. I soak it every week and it does wonderfully. Its roots are filling the pot so very fast. The easiest oncidium I have ever had (only been doing this about 2 1/2 years). I got this one at my local orchid shop for $5 in oct of last year and it hasn't bloomed yet.
Oncidium In general grow well for me but I did have a disappointing bloom one my sherry baby. It bloomed for me I was so happy but all flowers fell off after a month. I stressed the plant out I think moving it around inside and outside.
Besides that they grow really well and are not too picky. They Are a good next orchid to get.
