well mine is in a 4" pot (since it lost its roots!) so mine dries out quickly; its also in new bark, so it doesn't stay wet too long. I normally water it every 1-2 days!

when you decide to water your plant, what does the medium feel like? mine feels moist/ humid, but it doesnt feel damp or wet.

My feels damp for a couple days. It stays moist further down in the pot for a longer period.
Did you presoak your medium before repotting? That helps the medium retain proper moisture.
As long as the orchid is not sitting in water after you are done watering....and it drains well, you should be fine. Are you using just bark? That might make a difference, too. It sounds like you are doing well with yours now. It should be fine.
