That spotted cattleya looks like my WianaeLeopard "Ching Hua" that just finished flowering. They must smell really nice!

BLC takes the cattleya culture but needs a lot of light. It is something I have issues with. They grow well for me but not very willing to bloom.

My two catts are growing outside right now; it's very hot at the moment, but they're acclimated and also get good wind/shade. So I'd guess even when the temps are 100+, it's about 90 or so in shade. (My other oncidiums are all growing like weeds!)

I had one growing inside before and it did seem to grow well, though it never flowered. (Now it's outside.)

I read somewhere that Blc prefers to be in cooler temperatures- which I can provide. I wasn't sure if I could put it outside or not. I'll have to look at the tag and see if I can figure out what specific species. I'd imagine that it depends on that.

I don't know what it is with me and BLC, but they never bloom for me. I always buy them in bud and then dump. lol

I can flower minis and LC all fine so far.

I went to go ahead and move them all outside today....... but I couldn't do it.....a few more days inside so I can stare at them won't hurt, right???!!! The Beallara is just opening up all of it's blooms at once and it's like staring at a sprig snowflakes in the middle of summer..........reminds me of the cold.....it's so hot right now outside!

My fiancé keeps picking on me because I will pull up a chair just to look at them.

My ondontoglossum (didn't get it here, from last year) is growing like a weed and I hope it spikes soon..........

I'm hopeless, aren't I?

The really sad part to this is that I went to the show to get some paphs. My house rabbit got out of her pen and ate mine. I had two growing in a pot and she decided to have orchid salad. Did I come home with paphs? Nope......

Nice haul young lady. There are more youngsters than we think. But any kind of collecting seems to wait until later in life. That is a nice floofy BLC. If in a medium bark, lots of water. When you water it, lift it up and feel how heavy it is. Now when it is light weight, water it again. That should be a couple days in warm weather. The others are nice too. I'm just partial to cats and their ilk. That BLC looks like it has lots of roots. BLC's like good clean water. RO or distilled are great. The flowering pbulb should have put out roots a month ago and those should be about 2-3 inches long. If you think it needs repotting, as soon as those flowers start to fade would be a good time.
