Can't find a Howea-- er, Leomesezia-- Lava Burst
At least, I think it's primarily an Oncidium type? Ish? All these name changes and whatnot...
Anyway, where'd they go? By all accounts this is a very popular, easy to grow orchid-- I've seen some people mentioning they got it at Lowe's-- but I've never seen one in my local plant hunting. I tried to order one from The Orchid Gallery, but then they refunded me and said they were out of stock. . Most of my online searching gives me only forums and wikis, and just one place on the east coast that has it for shipping about equal to the plant's value (ugh). What gives? Who bought them all? >

hybrids come and go - they're mass produced, then when the market reaches saturation, they stop producing them. keep looking, there are probably dozens of people in your local orchid society that have them.

I've often seen these at TJs near me - tho not for a few months at least. Perhaps with summer coming they will re-appear

Oncidium Intergenerics A thru H Last item on the page. Paramount is in Canada but does ship to the U.S. Shipping might be expensive tho.

Paramount has a minimum order of $75 for US customers, plus a $20 handling fee, plus shipping. You also need an import permit.
you can still order them from the company that registered the cross ( Puanani Orchids)

Dude! Awesome! I will try this one right away. Much better than trying my chances with some random eBay thing.
Yeah, I should look into local club stuff ASAP and get acquainted with the local bunch. I kinda just wanna go over to people's houses and point at things and go wuzzat?? a lot.

Okay, yeah-- no.
The Puanani Orchids nursery is being sold! The website will be taken down shortly. The old owner has no idea when the new owner will resume taking orders.
So, that one is out too.

I have a Howeara Lava Burst "Puanani"....I got it from Ebay 3 years ago....I sometimes see them still being sold "buy it now" or for bidding....go to Ebay....open an account and search on the orchid you want....you might get lucky and find one you like and be able to buy it
