(Oncidesa : Oncidium x Gomesa)
This grows outside year-round, and looks worse for the wear; got burned a couple times last summer, some critter feasted on a pbulb a few months ago. But, roots look good, grows well, and blooming on two spikes. The bloom shape seems a bit different from last year - fuller lip previously, perhaps ...
I have two of these - I bought a lot of 5 plugs a few years ago - gave three away. The other one has been growing indoors since it first spiked in late summer/early fall 2011. (That one, the blooms weren't as nice looking - a lot more red, few markings) So I'm thinking that perhaps this one either likes cooler temps to bloom, or, wants a bigger day to night temperature difference than it gets inside. I do keep my home rather cool in winter, and the one inside has a nearly fully developed new growth; I guess I will wait and see if it spikes on that growth - if not, try leaving it outside ...
Pix 1-4 are current; #5 is the same plant last year; #6 is the other one from last year
Thanks for looking
