Default Trichopilia galeottiana

A Mexican species with characteristic yellow colour and typical red dots and stripes. This is a rapid growing plant from seed propagation.

I didn't start with the seedling. Another group member had the mother plant and thought it was worth selfing. Also in our local group there are a few skilful people who did the job with the flasks twenty or so years ago. The plant above is only one of many divisions I grow. Undivided the size would be 10 or 20 times bigger. At the meeting 2 days ago a plant was offered for sale at the low price of 5 Euro. I wish all my Trichopilias would grow like this. Unfortunately the flowers last only a few days. They flower in June.
