Sorry for not responding sooner.Between hard drive crash and illness,it's been hard to keep up.Did I mention the camera at the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket of rain water? The plant went into the show in Lansing[MSU] with 2 spikes full of blooms last year.So far this year, only one spike has started, but with 4 new leads, there should be more. It's still early in the season yet.Brad
Wow that's great! I responded to your thread because I think mine is also Gower Ramsey, and I also live in a northern state, so some circumstances are similar. Do you give yours any special food, starve it, stop watering it, chill it, whatever, to get it to bloom? Mine grows but only bloomed once in the past 6 years!
Hope your illness is better and your camera either recovered or has a new replacement!
one more question please, How do you water that mount? As I have couple of 'chids mounted like that and I take them out the pot (filled with leca) which just holds the wood mount stood up in the pot ..
I'm much better, thank you.No camera yet.I grow this plant in intermediate temps with plenty of light. As to water,I mist with rainwater and 20% strength fertaliser at least once a week, and mist with straight rain almost daily.Every couple weeks or so[as needed],I drench everything and turn the fans up a notch. My indoor grow room for winter averages 60%+humidity and 60'f to 80'f.It thrives in cattleya conditions and a bit cooler. If it doesn't bloom,it is probably not getting enough light.Hope this helps. Brad
