Default Dark matters...

I went down in into the garage today to check the traps that I had to set because I had mice in my engine. One of the traps it was on the edge of a shelf on the side of the garage had a mouse in it that was still alive. It was wiggling around and squeaking and its face was caught in the Trap. it was awful. I had to take the Trap and dump it out into a deep mound of snow. So on Christmas Day this poor little mouse gets his face crunched, and dies in pain and freezing cold. I hate having to do this to these rodents. I will never forget that. Seeing that little mouse wiggling off the edge of the end of the Shelf with its face caught in the end of the Trap...

I'm sorry, greenpassion. I feel for you. We have killed our share of mice, insects, and other pests in and around our house, garage, and barn. I have sympathy for all living creatures and hate to see them suffer, but I guess on the other hand, there are good reasons why we cannot allow them to take over our living spaces or our vehicles. I don't know what the answer is.

I have such a quandary of emotions about the issue of animals and human beings and living space. We are supposed to be the smartest mammals on the Earth, but we are in fact destroying the Earth. We are wiping out habitats and environments. And killing everything in our way for the sake of money and prestige. No other animal or mammal I should say on the earth or planet has done this except for the smartest of all. So in my opinion is the stupidest and ugliest of all, is Human beings.

I agree. That they are fast and painless is the way I would want to go to. Coming up on what I did tonight was really awful. But way more awful for that poor little mouse. How long he or she suffered I cannot even imagine. No matter how grotesque people think rodents are , they are just like us, trying to make a living or to have a life- or to live...

I know I sound like a stupid animal rights of zealous. And obviously this text-to-speech does not know how to spell that but anyway, it was just really hard to see that that I had a hand in such suffering of another animal. And I know that mice are very destructive, and I have a lot of them here and I have to do a lot more killing. And I hate that. I hate it.

The fact that death and pain aren't easy for you is a good thing. It shows your reverence for life. However, there is good in the world, and there are people who do good things. The world was meant to be in balance, which it is not. There is a quote " Those who look for beauty always find it." Look for good things, focus on the good, true and right. Turn your passion to helping change what you hate. End of lecture.😉

Couldn't have been said any better! [Insert standing ovation riiiiiight HERE]

I can't stand killing the little cuties either...but sometimes it's necessary. We had a nest in the house one fall and a bunch of babies running around...i kept catching them and releasing them in a neighbors wood pile (At the back of their prop) nearby. My husband said I was nuts because they'd just come back...but I had to try. Back then we had 4 cats that just watched the little guys but our Newfy, Huey, would try to get them. He swallowed a baby whole one time! It ran right at him...sloooop...baby mouse was gone. To be honest, it kind of horrified me but hubby thought it was funny.

The 2 cats we have now, Toby and Marley, are excellent mousers so if any get inside...they are soon sorry the entered the house.

Traps are generally designed for quick death. If that does not happen I think the kindest thing would be to gas it so that it does not have to suffer for an extended period before dying.

I only hope that before you threw it into the snow you were kind enough to kill it. Otherwise it really, really suffered as it died.
