Cactus Experts, ID, Please!!!
It is a beautiful spring day in NYC today and I went out to farmer's market in forever!
It was full of colorful spring bulbs, annuals, and of course orchids!
I was looking at a whole bunch of little cacti at one vendor's tent and I spotted two that had flower buds on them, so I picked those up.
Now, I am wondering what these are called if anyone has a clue.
One of them has sooooo many flower buds all over near the top third of the body.
I'm sooooo excited to find out what the flowers will look like.

The one w/the flower is a mammilaria and the other one appears to be a notocactus of some kind. I think. Think being the key word in there because I'm not a cactus expert. I used to have a LOT of them but I didn't worry about names like I do w/orchids.
I just recently gave several of my few remaining cactus away...and the top one looks like my noto-something or other I had.

Thanks!
I will post pictures again once they flower, so that might help a lot more to identify what it is.
I have not seen cactus flowers that I do not like, but they are covered with weapons, so I do not like them that much. lol
I do buy any cactus with flowers or buds.
Sometimes I keep them and sometimes I don't haha

Nice cacti! I'm pretty terrible at cactus identification, but the top one looks a lot like Mammillaria bombycina.

I think you're right on.
I just googled up some images and Mammillaria bombycina looks just like the top one.
Now I just have to find out what the bottom one is.
It looks like the flowers on the bottom one will open as early as tomorrow.

One of the cacti opened three of its flowers today.
Well, after I took this picture this morning.
It looked so cute when the pink color kicked in, so I thought I would capture the moment, but then hours later, flowers started to open up.
I think in just a couple of days, many more will open and will look like a person's head with a flower crown around. I like this kind of presentation on a cactus.
The red buds on the other one is getting bigger and bigger. Looks quite nice. probably open tomorrow. I can't wait!!!

The red flowers are open now, but it is so hard to capture the vibrant color in the picture.
You can barely see the outlines of each petals here.
Dang it!

The blooming one reminds me of some type of echinopsis.
Lovely blooms!
The other one could be some type of mammillaria.
Sorry can't be more specific..hope you can match them further.
