Thought I had thrown expensive toys away!
Occasionally, I have the tendency to collect toys I think are pretty cool. It is just an occasional thing. I don't really do it all the time.
Well, recently I've been cleaning my living areas out, and some of the things I was selling or throwing out were some random junk and some toys.
During the clean up, I kept wanting to hang on to the Lego Bionicle toys I had. But when I counted how many within the group I had, I was missing 2 figures. I had thought that during the early phase of the cleanup, I had thrown them out in the recycling bin thinking that their canisters were empty. Frustrated, I never bothered to look in a cabinet where they might've been stored.
Upset, I tried to look for replacements only to find that they're now worth anywhere about $75 each! I never purchased new ones, and good thing too...
Sure enough, when I looked inside a cabinet trying to look for my dechlorinator, there they were in their canisters, the 2 remaining Lego Bionicle figures. I'm very glad I didn't accidentally toss them!
Now I gotta go to the nearest tropical fish aquarium and get some dechlorinators to remove any chloramines in our tap water, (needed the dechlorinator to add water for my protozoans and rotifers; I'm raising killifish). :/
At least I found some really expensive toys!

What species of killie are you working with Philip?

I have a ton.
I have:
Hypsolebias fasciata (only one fish hatched)
Laimosemion xiphidius (only 2 or 3 hatched, and 1 survived)
Nothobranchius lourensi (I think I only have 5 left)
Simpsonichthys santanae (I think there are 3 - 5 left)
Simpsonichthys zonatus (I got about 10 - 13 for now)
There are currently 5 other species, but I didn't label them cause I got overwhelmed and I couldn't figure out where I had put my tape during the massive cleanup of my room, (apparently they were also in the same cabinet I had the toys in :/).
Somehow I thought they were fast growing fish, my Nothobranchius lourensi are still tiny! They have grown noticeably since they hatched, but they are still fish fry, and they hatched some time in August! I think some of these fish people are over estimating the speed by which their fish grow to sexual maturity. There's no way that some of these are sexually mature at 2 months old.

Off your list I've only personally worked with the Laimosemion xiphidius, but it was back in the late 90s when they were still considered a Rivulus sp. The things I found were that they liked it a bit warmer than typical killie temps, around 80 or so and they liked it dark, so I kept them in black water conditions. They did well, but it really did seem like the less I disturbed them the happier they were.

That's kinda what I found too. I've always had them in a dark corner of the room. But they don't like to be disturbed much at all. They hatch out pretty large too! They're really cute. Too bad people don't sell a whole lot of eggs in 1 batch. I only got 13 or so eggs. So for 2 or 3 to hatch out of the bunch, and having only 1 survive, those are pretty good odds!
So far, my favorites are the Hypsolebias, Simpsonichthys, Nothobranchius, and Notholebias.
I'm not sure if I got Pterolebias filamentosus to hatch or not, but if I did, that'd be cool! They're not colorful, but I just love the fact that they're really small and unusual.

Thank you.
I grew up on Legos. There's something really rewarding about putting the pieces together. With the older Lego sets, it was a lot easier to use your imagination and create something completely different than what the box art and instructions intended. But I think it's pretty safe to assume that the creators of Lego knew that too. lol
I always admire the Star Wars Lego sets, but I somehow never buy one. Maybe if I find one I like, I'll fork out the cash.

Hah, my boyfriend has a 1000+ piece collection of tiny 1-inch WWII and Lord of the Rings models which he paints and assembles.
It's a 10-year hobby and going strong. I hear they are releasing a Smaug model that is going to cost $450 USD which is just ridiculous!!
But if he can have his 1000-piece collection of plastic, I get to be justified in "frivolous" orchid purchases and collecting!
Nice find!
Edit:
I suppose if he bought Smaug, I could justify buying a Phrag kovachii, couldn't I?
No... not really because I would probably kill that fabulous fuchsia-colored angel of a plant...
