My Pings are in bark mix, and I always have them sitting in water.Thrives so well by our North facing window. So far doing good. Has grown really big too. Gets its good fungun gnats from my pothos plant beside it. I do not know what type of Ping I have, but so far I find they do fine sitting in water.

But then again, our area has low humidity levels too, so bone dry around here, so it can take it being in a moist condition.
