Trying to ID an herbacious flower
My roommate brought these home at the end of the last semester from her plant production class, but she has NO idea what they are.
These non-plant people...i don't get it. How do you grow something for a semester project and not know what it is?
They were about 6-8" tall in seedling trays when she brought them home. They are starting to get taller, aing spent the winter in the greenhouse.

It looks like a Pentas to me. Maybe I'm wrong. Scratch that. I think that it is in fact a Pentas lanceolata.

Thanks, guys! SPot on! I'll plant them out in the butterfly bed i'm planting out front, then!
That was my main issue was whether they could take the sun out there. I popped a few in the part shade side bed, but i wasn't sure if they could handle the texas sun, but i see that they should do fine. Might even work as a perrenial, here. Neat.
Thanks, guys!

CJ they are perennials for me. They take full sun all day here. They take a bit to get established but once they do they grow and bloom beautifullly. They are nectar plants for the butterflies here.

Excellent. I'm planting a butterfly and hummingbird garden in my two front beds. Mixing in some veggies amongst the flowers to. Bring the pollinators to the eatables! lol.

I envy you got to see a few hummingbirds during a vacation in the Rocky Mountains. Can only dream to have them in my garden.
