Do you know what type of Aroids they are? Is it Taro? Dracunculus, Typhonium, Callas?

I'm a total Aroid novice. They most closely resembled callas but were smaller in scale, squat, had variegated bumpy leaves, and the blooms were greenish-white; more lance shaped that a fully wrapped calla. Really beautiful. For size of the blubs the plants were very small.

I would guess, light shade, moist soil. I keep my one of my Callas as a swamp plant and the other in SemiHydro. They are both doing really well. I would plant them now as they look like they are in growth mode not dormancy. Since you have so many, keep a few and plant the rest in various ways. That way if you make a mistake you won't kill them all.

Thanks for the additional help. I went out foraging last night and found three more patches that were going to be destroyed. I now have a 5-gallon bucket of bulbs, from sweet potato to pea sized. I'm going to try all sorts of planting techniques and see what comes up. Once more question. Do you ever cut your callas down to the ground? Mine appears to be done blooming for the year.

I don't cut them down. They always slowly die off for me as they enter dormancy. When it becomes obvious that they are on their way to slumber I trim whatever straggler leaves maybe left behind etc.. But so long as their are lots of leaves I leave them as the plant will use them to make food for next year, grow more and or bigger bulbs etc....

I am no calla expert .. no no .. more like a pre-beginner ...
I agree with Tindo on allowing them to stay green to plump up their bulbs

My calla flowers have also dwindled

but they were a real treat this year

Hello all,

Well I got this Anthurium scherzerianum for a while now, over a year. At first it wasn't dieing, but not growing either, now its putting on new leaves, but they all die and now the large old leaves are dieing too. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Should I treat it more like an orchid? I have it in sphag, bark, soil, and LECA mix. Usually stays damp though. I don't want to loose this one, its not easy to find. Thanks.

OK, I searched, and searched, and searched for my picture of this beast. The Titan Arum or Corpse Flower was grown and flowered at the university here. One of my coworkers and I visited this bloom each day as it matured. I got some good photos (close ups, pollination action photos, me standing next to it, etc.) but I can't put my hands on the disc - so stupid.

These pictures aren't mine, they're from the Stephen F. Austin State University Arboretum web site. But it's kind of neat to know that I got so see, touch, and smell this thing. Enjoy.
