hiking buddy at Sabal Point Sanctuary in Longwood, FL
Saw this guy out while out for a hike on the trail at the Sabal Point Sanctuary. Got one shot off before he high-tailed it off into the woods.

He's there now...had to upload the image to my site, as the forum wouldn't take the image size I wanted to upload.

Prem, a great place to venture out an enjoy what nature has to offer...just thought you might like this pasting from the website "Black bears also use the property, so keep your eyes peeled for bear scat and footprints! These shy animals are rarely seen, except by the luckiest of visitors." With that you are one of the lucky one's.
The sanctuary is within 10 miles from my home and missed a bid on a home within 2 miles of The Sanctuary.

Cheryl,
I had seen that on the website and never expected to have seen a bear...have you ever gone hiking at Sabal Point? It's really a neat place! There are quite a few wild Epidendrum magnoliae growing in the trees...I plan on going off-trail to try to find some of the terrestrials that might be growing there as well. I've seen an owl (flew away before I could get a shot), woodpeckers, the aforementioned bear, and nearly stepped on a cottonmouth right on the trail! It was funny, I was lecturing my daughter Sarah on the fact that we should be watchful so we don't step on any snakes (I was looking just a few feet ahead) as she says, "Dad...Dad...DAD!!!"...and I look up and see da bear.
Susanne, which "sweetie-pie" daughter photo are you referring to?
