Blooming Bromeliad

This beauty came with the house I bought 2 1/2 years ago. It grows like crazy and exhibits lovely pink blooms. These have just started to peek out. They'll look like pink pineapples when they're fully opened.

how do you water bromeliads... my mom told me that someone told her to water it in the crown and my mom usually kills plants.

This bromeliad blooms once a year and the blooms last several months. Research tells me that it prefers the crowns to be watered, but I rarely do this. The flower goes through changes as it matures and will develop areas that are lavender blue. I'll post new photos when this happens.

I've heard of those being called "silver vase" bromeliads. I have one myself and love it. The blooms last for months!
