Ya want your gold flowers back, super duper moderator? Nobody says we have to use them as intended, and I can give them back as easily as I took them away. (sorry, super moderator privilege only!)

I appreciate everyone on Orchid Board, moderators, supers, administrators and newbies like me.

Orchid Board -- Keep doing what you are doing. I pay no attention to the flowers.

Frankly, I'm starting to yearn for a sheer drivel badge instead. Would it be possible for me to design it?

The badge scheme is actually a fun thing - now that I think about it. The important thing is really how people treat each other - not just on orchidboard - but anywhere in general. Respecting one another is a nice thing.

As we know - there are all sorts in this world. I treat everybody nicely - as equals - unless somebody purposely comes out to throw their weight around - as in bullying me, or hassling somebody (not me ..... but other members) that didn't deserve to be hassled.

There's only one person on my ignore list ----- and their 'alias' name begins with 'i' or 'I'. That person demonstrated behaviour of a bully, and appeared to have no problem with it. That person threw out some insults. And they even attempted to ask others to put me on their ignore list (as they did put me on their ignore list). But ----- being an internet veteran (me, as with many other people here as well) ------ we've seen it all - and can handle it all -- no problem. It didn't affect me (in terms of causing psychological stress etc) ----- and I'm just indicating the obvious again ----- there's all sorts out there in the world. And the internet is 'the wild'. You can encounter pretty much anything out there.

I find that on orchidboard ----- the bulk of the people that post here are really good and nice people. We just want to chat about orchids and other nice things, and see orchid pics.

I like it a lot as it is.

I've also read the badges for certain numbers of messages encourages some people to make posts so they can get their numbers up.

Members with a lot of flowers have probably been around a while and probably remember past discussions of particular topics. They can often point people to a past post much faster than somebody can sift the search feature for it.

I agree enthusiastically with all of the above. I like the Orchid Board just the way it is. Please don't change a thing. Forums like this are a welcome diversion from the stresses of our world today. Yes, there is the occasional unpleasantness from a very small number of individuals, but it eventually works itself out one way or another. I've seen it happen on all the boards I've belonged to. (And thank you to the moderators for stepping in when necessary.) I know this is stating the obvious, but it's human nature to sometimes disagree and/or to question the credentials of someone giving advice.

Oh, yes, I also remember dial-up Internet! For that matter, I remember a world before we all had the Internet, though I can't really remember what we all did with ourselves back in those olden days.
