I like 'em. Useful and quick.

Not that my 2¢ will help
:scratchhead: but... I think mini's should have their own section. Maybe break it down to alliances from there . Also if there is not already a Fragrant flower section, there should be! I havent ventured around enough to look.

I fully support Orchidaholic's plea for mini orchid section. Let's get down to know who are all growing such miniatures which were originally grouped under botanicals. By the way, which do you think is the smallest orchid? Any photographs?

How would you guys like to have it organized so it fits with the current layout?

Ross 05-18-2007 01:01 PM

Just to jump in here, I don't think it matters, as those that grow minis recognize there are thousands of possibilities and hundreds of species. If we were to have a seperate section for minis (I support this) then I think any mini qualifies. Does this help?

Would 'compact' be catagorized as mini? :hmm:
And is mini defined as the size of plant or flower? :scratchhead:
Just curious :)

Ross 05-19-2007 11:51 AM

Good questions. I don't think 'compact' is mini. Mini usually refers to overall plant stature. (Well other things too, but we are discussing plants here  )

Tindomul 05-19-2007 12:35 PM

Compact I think can still get large, just not as large as the non compact sister species/hybrids/parent plant. Mini, :hmm what is the cut off point for a Mini? I have Mini Catts that do not fit in the palm of my hand. But all my other Minis are Tiny!

Micro-Mini : under 4 inches in height
Mini : 4 inches to 8 inches in height
Compact : 8 inches to 12 inches in height
