I think a sub forum on the main board would be nice where we can talk about our non orchid plants .. Gin

I liked the idea of the private groups (although admittedly, I joined a couple but didn't have time to post much). It seems like sometimes, the groups are just devoted to posting members' pics and although I appreciate gorgeous blooms, I would like some more in-depth discussion on culture, growing tips, etc.

I guess that I see the private groups as an opportunity to have more in depth discussion of the growing process, as opposed to posting pictures of a particular type of orchid.

I have noticed less action with the regular forums and I've noticed some threads not being answered at all. Perhaps it's because we are spread out all over the place. I don't particularly use or like the social groups. I don't dislike them, but I don't have time to do both, so I stay with the regular forums. I find the added stuff has gotten too much for me to take on.

It doesn't seem there is THAT much activity in the social groups that it would be taking away from board activity - I wonder if the board seeming to be slower is due to the more frequent 'refreshing' of the 'new posts' - I am sure a number of posts 'get lost' that way - make sure to check the quick links 'todays posts'

There's been a definite difference here in the forums and it calculates back to around the time the social groups started.

We tried something new...it hasn't been what we hoped for...we're moving on

I wasn't making an arguement for or against - but do think the refresh started at the same time - board was tweaked a bit
and just reminding peeps to check the 'todays posts' link

You're right

The social groups option was part of the latest upgrade.

I didn't think you were arguing...and I like the "today's posts" reminder, some folks aren't aware of it and it does help a lot
