Orchid Education Section, message to Marty and All
Hi Marty,
Perhaps we can have a section on this board called Orchid education where people can post interesting things about orchids, or any usefull knowledge about all the different types of orchids just like my last post on the Advanced section. I hope I put that in the right place though. If not please feel free to move it.
Tell me what you think.
Thanks.

Re: Orchid Education Section, message to Marty and All
Hm... I'm thinking this whole board is an "education section". I think that calling a section "education" takes away from all the other categories.
What does everyone else think? Then the proposed category would be too broad imo. We could make 'tips & tricks' or something more specific.
The beauty of the board is that we can make sections devoted to a part of the hobby. Then the whole section becomes a categorized 'education section'. If you guys need more categories or would like category names changed or deleted let me know.
Afterall, this board is not for me

Instead of "Education" how about a category for "Species News, Nomenclature Changes and CITIES Updates"? Although that sounds like pretty heavy stuff would get posted in that category [/b]

That sounds good for a description of a new category. What should we call the category?
how about "BORING STUFF" hehe...jk
btw, I was thinking of making a hierarchical structure for species
.ie..
you click on species discussion, there would be general discussion inside, and then there would be subforums:
Cattleyas
Phalaenopsis
Oncidium
Cymbidiums
etc
etc
etc
This way specie specific things could be posted in subforums and general specie topics could be contained in the 'general discussion' under species.
Just a thought, but it could be handy in the next decade when we get thousands of users
right now, if we get thousands of users posting in species sections, it will be a mess...just thinking, once we become the center or the orchid universe

I like that idea. How about we call it Orchid Trivia and ... Something else that sounds serious? More serious than Trivia.
Orchid Trivia and Species News?

speaking of boring - what "Orchids Scientific" or something like that. It sounds kinda official, formal and brainiac like.
I really like the idea hierarchical structure for species in the forum.
I don't think there is any others site doing something like that - we MUST be the Center of the Orchid Universe. After all, we only need 897 to 1000!
