I think I will get mine potted as I don't think I could keep it wet enough mounted. I love the mounts just don't think they would work for me.
Shannon, why you do not try KOOL LOG too, it will be easy to keep your plant moist all the time since the log is filled with the water constantly?

Tommy Thanks for the link. I'm looking at these for two small Catt species (C. Luteola and Sophronitis brevipedunculata and maybe even a Sl. Orpetii). These guys require a constant low level of moisture which I am finding difficult to maintain. What do you think?

Carrie, they work amazing for all my Masdevalliaas outside, they keep them constantly moist. I do not use nearly any moss or just a little bit, since the log itself evaporates water and the roots are nicely lightly moist at all times, but not soggy wet. It is also much easier to make sure these water loving species stay constantly moist since you just fill the log with the water every day or every 2 days depending on the size and how fast water evaporates. Cooling effect is great for me here in Florida too. I would go for probably medium size logs, the small size is for true miniatures like Lepanthes, the medium size works for my small PNG Dendrobiums and other small size plants too. Large size is great for big Masdevallias. Check the pictures they have on the website to see different plants they do mount.

I was thinking about even the horizontal one which seems to be a medium size. Might try a sample pack to get started too. Lots to consider
