Talking Jewel Orchids!

I finally got some jewel orchids! I've loved these since before I even started growing orchids, but have only grown Ludisia discolor until recently when I found a Macodes petola (posted in another thread) and then these. These are from Imperial Exotics, and are very healthy except for a couple damage spots.

Jewel orchids are so hard to capture in photographs, especially with a cheap camera like mine. Except for the Goodyera, they all have much more sparkling, prismatic veins than the pics show, especially the Dossinia.

In order they are:
Dossinia marmorata var. dayii
Anoectodes Charlotte's Web (Anoectochilus brevilabris x Macodes petola)
Macodes sanderiana
Dossinochilus Dreamcatcher (Dossinia marmorata x Anoectochilus brevilabris)
Goodyera schlechtendaliana

Thanks WhiteRabbit! Imperial Exotics has 28 different jewels, both species and hybrids. They also have an ebay store that sells the same plants for a dollar less ($8.95 vs. $9.95), either way pretty cheap.

Jewel Orchids

I'll probably be ordering from them again as soon as I figure out where I would put more! I really want to try some of the Anoectochilus they offer!

Thanks Silken!

Oops, yes their ebay name is basically the same: imperial exotics | eBay

Though the ebay site only has about half of what the main store offers.

LOVELY!!! And silken, in case you were wondering, there is a Canadian vendor that has a lot of jewel orchids. Hawaiian Botanicals in BC has a great selection of jewel, hardy, and Brazilian orchids. They also have MANY carnivorous plants, and oodles of other things. OMG!!! There is so much I want to buy I don't know where to start!
