Does anyone grow Disa uniflora???

Hello everybody !!! I've fallen in love with this flower and was wondering if anyone here grew them. I'm tempted to buy a couple. They would be growing in intermidiate conditions alongside the cyclamen and my masdevallias. Anyone has any experiece with these??? Thank you and Happy Gardening !!!!

I don't own one, but I constantly come across it while reading about orchid culture, they grow by riverbanks in Africa where their roots are constantly moist. They're blooming season is December-March. Also they make great cut flowers and can be fragrant. They are frequently used in crosses.

a guy in my orchid society grows them using refrigerated water in a circulation system.

I know someone in New Orleans who grows and blooms them. He grows in a sunroom but the temps are similar to the outside temps in the shade since the doors to the room are open during the day. It's planted in a "cool pot" and the pot is sitting in a tray that has a constant flow of water circulating through it.

I grow some Disa hybrids in my bog bed outdoors (right of the decking in the bottom picture) with Sarracenia's and other marsh orchids.

Intermediate conditions are far too warm. In winter they should just be frost-free, but some types withstand short periods of light frost. So if you live in a milder area, you should be able to grow these outdoors.

We had a really cold winter, down to -8C this winter for a couple of nights and most my plants perished. But this orange hybrid (5 plants) seems to be the hardiest and has survived.

Primarily a South African terrestrial orchid,in the wild they often grow on the banks of flowing streams.
The best medium is live sphagnum moss(low in nitrogen),use only rainwater and keep the plants moist all year.Repot annually into fresh moss,after the summer flowering.
Best growing conditions are cool to intermediate.
These are general culture tips for hybrids.
Botanical are more difficult.
Have a common requirement"WATER QUALITY"
