Masdevallias are Pleurothallids.

There is a popular misconception that all Masdevallias are cool growing. Again, I reiterate, this is a fallacy.

Sure there are cold or cool growing Masdevallias.

But...

There are intermediate to warm growing Masdevallias as well. One such Masdevallia is Masd. wendlandiana. Another one is Masd. impostor.

I've given you two of many. Try looking up which ones don't require being in cool or cold temperatures.

Masdevallia princeps is a magnificent Masdevallia that prefers intermediate to warm temperatures.

The estimated temperatures for the environment of Masd princeps are 76-79 F days and 56-59 F nights. That does not indicate that it is an intermediate to warm grower. I have no knowledge of its tolerance to higher temperatures, but one would assume that it would occur below 5000 ft if it was so tolerate.

What should one do if they have a NOID masdie? Is it better to try cool temps for a while and then intermediate temps and try and guage the 'chid's relative happiness? Or should I aim for somewhere in the middle of the two ranges?

Thanks!
